Live report: day 1 (May 30th)

Sailors!!

Ears are ringing like hell...

We have just returned from a f**king amazing show at House of Blues, here in L.A! Really awesome!

Firewind got the party started: they looked like having so much fun (Gus G. was incredible! See pics) and the people followed on! Not many tracks were played, but we got a nice selection of new and old pieces! The trophy of the first gig was a drum stick... contended between the Captain and Johnny13... And Johnny won! That sucks! (Just kidding!)

Divine Heresy picked up the torch and brought it way far, crushing skulls and bones of everybody with it! Incredible performance from a f**ing L.A. band (awesome presence on stage of Dino... that couldn't possibly be ignored anyway!) Got to meet the band after the show and got the second trophy of the night: all members signed CDs, handshakes, chit-chat... kisses... whatever! See pics!

Dark Tranquillity. Uncomfortably the volume went down somehow, despite the performance was good. Most of the pieces were from "Fiction", but they did play also some oldies. See pics!

Arch Enemy: WOW!!!! Had no idea they could play that good! Michael Ammott was shredding (and the crowd was shredding the Captain that went deep into the pit's mayhem for pics...!) and Angela was a fury raging all over the stage! That was their last show of the tour and they didn't disappoint. At all!

Sweet dream, now! Have to recover for tomorrow's MAIDEN... meeting!!!

Fun will start tonight! 3 days of pure METAL mayhem... and the first spot will be House of Blues!

Now, that alone would be AWESOME, but take a look at the content of the message that buddy J13 got and - with pride and excitement - showed me yesterday!

Yeah, men, tickets and backstage passes for MAIDEN show!! That`s right, sailors! GODLIKE!

These kind of things do not happen everyday!

The time has come!
Tomorrow I will set sail for North America.
Departure is scheduled for 15:45. Believe it or not from T. to T. "sea"port it takes 2 hours! Plus 2 hours of early presence...! Unbelievable! Almost half of the trip time...!!
But for healty fun and the broderhood of Port Royal this is nothign!

How lucky I am!
Not only in one week I'm going to raise some hell in L.A. to a series of AWESOME gigs with buddy Johnny13 , but today I really found a jewel at the shop! Hunting for Johnny's present (which I found - something really rare and cool!), I happened to stumble on a 4 members signed copy of "Ressurrection" of the now split-up DUNGEON!!! A signed copy -----!! At an insanely low price (virtually for free)!! The shop guys must have taken the signs for some kind of dirt on the booklet.

And what a dirt!!

By the way...

Obviously I brought on my trip a chest with a few recently acquired treasures and... it is only May, but I'm pretty sure that BATTLEROAR To Death and Beyond will be one of my 2008 best album. It is freeky AWESOME!!! This youg band from Greece has put tugether a f**king epic and f**king "metallic" piece of music this time! The tunes, heavy and rythmic, are a blow-away; the singing and the choruses are super; the songwriting too is fantastic. Give it a try... and buy it, because it deserve the money. "Oceans of pain" is amazing!

Another jewl - more difficult to get your dirty hands on, since it is included in a DVD package - is SUIDAKRA-13 Yers of Celtic Wartunes. I love these guys, a very skilled and original German band who do not happens to have in return the success and the attention it would deserve.

Not only METAL

Holyday time around here... It is called Golden Week. One of the few periods when the gates of our zoo are open and millions of animal are left free to swarm around... close to the zoo, or abroad.

Since I had no treasures to barth and some work to do (a couple of brigs to board... some slave trade... etc.), I couldn't go quite far. Yet I also had two day off and left the port. Here you can see a couple of shots of the historic city of Kamakura... the animals left free... Tsurugaoka Hachimangu Temple... and spmebody.

Beautifull weather, even if windy. Today souvenir was a cold...!

Saxon gig in Tokyo

Yeah, you can bet your ass I went!
April 30th, SAXON concert at O-East in Shibuya (Tokyo) was an awesome gig! The live house was completely filed up with people and the response was astonishing. At half of the show Biff ripped the track list in pieces and eat it up(!), and the concert went on by improvising or requests (attempts, at least). Played tracks were as follow:
