No, Cpt. ain't properly dead at sea...
Just got busy quite a bit lately and keeping up blog & port turned out to be a little too time demanding. So, had to cut it down a bit. Nonetheless, don't give up on us... Port, Cpt. & crew are just like HEAVY METAL: we are here to stay!

Here you have a few pics of yesterda's HEAVY METAL CONFERENCE 2010 #1 at Crescendo Live House (Kichijouji, Tokyo). As a matter of fact it was a 'long time no gig' for the Cpt...
On set list: Mastermind / Screaming Symphony / ANA-SPY'Z / Bleed Out / AFTERZERO (order inverted). Invited by Mastermind, which as usual shredded everybody doen into pieces, I have to say I regret having been late for After Zero, which I like very much. But couldn't really help. Screamy Symphony got me back into action. Then a not previously known ANA-SPY'Z followed on. While you will certainly have an hard time finding the Cpt. listening to them, they turned out pretty enjoyable live: high-heels, chains & spikes, and latex-bounded, one of the members made indeed an awesome target for Cpt! Too bad they announced they will not be playing live for a while...

BOOTY

Have you got a copy of the new Overkill? If not, GET IT! It is A.W.E.S.O.M.E.! Despite it is only February, but to me, that one is already album of the year!
I've been checking various new and less new treasures lately, and despite I've found several good things,I feel like suggesting only two here...

The first is a cover compilation by Overkill. It ain't properly new, but it collects a number of unconventional tracks - all top notch pieces - rearranged in Overkill style. Very Enjoyable.

The second comes quite as a novelty. Crow's claw. A Japanese band, A Japanese band, not otherwise known to me. What's great in it? The fact that it is an instrumental work and that is pretty much MDM in sound! Where you would expect singing and screaming, you get grinded to the bone by an impressive riffing machine. I'll tell you: it isn't easy doing an instrumental withough getting people bored at sometime (I can take only Reign of Terror so far...), but they pretty much did the job. Check it out.

ALMAH-Fragile Equility (2008) [Melodic/Power/Speed, Brasil]

ANGRA's Edu Falaschi and Felipe Andreoli's project band. Due to the positive feedback from the first release (2007) and to the fact that ANGRA are in a break, Edu decided to take ther project to the level of a full-fledged band, with a solid lineup. The sound does not try to deny their roots. But they managed to kept the feeling without excessive sophistication or fall from grace into the cheese of overheard power metal patterns. Or those damn empathic & cacophonic choruses. The guitars of Barbosa and Schrober feed you fast and frenzy riffs, flying above the carpet-bombing of Moreira's drum. But with power, here you rise your glass also to the glory: extremely clean sound & singing, and a very professional and attractive feeling. Upper lever tunes. Very nice.

WARREN ROBERT-Music from the void (2009) [Instrumental shred/symphonic, Canada]

Not quite known into metal, Canadian guitarist Warren Robert recorded and released an album of orchestral shred & guitar instrumentals entitled "Thoughts And Realities" already in 2005 , featuring melodic tunes, complex textures and orchestral inserts, enriched with fast shred guitar playing, which earned him a reputation as a both melodic shred guitarist and modern composer. This new concept album, inspired - as he said - by the writings of the great Samauri Miyamoto Musashi delivers you an up-dated version of his astonishing polyedric skills. Check the net for all his accolades... A wonderful piece of music, with great production, great guitar work and virtually no crappy flaw whatsoever. No banging guaranteed, but a great musical experience.

Back in business

Some time has passed since the last post. And some vicissitudes, too.
Old Port facility crashed and had to be changed. Setting up procedures took a bit longer than expected. Previous localization currently remains, but is unstable. GEt in at your risk. I'm still testing it. If it doesn't survive, I have already set up a newer one within my new NORAD center.

TARCHON FIST-Tarchon Fist (2008) [Heavy M. / Italy]

Here you have a freaky solid piece of steel to bang your head on: pure Italian heavy metal, with singing, riffing, hammering and production to very high level. Yes, ok... also a few fall from grace... but give a spin to the opener, 'Metal Detector', and then we'll talk. The 2009 album - with live material - is even betetr.

SOUND STORM-Twilight Opera (2009) [Symphonic/Epic M. / Italy]

This is a very mature work, despite the totally unappealing title - that actually recalls too much Symphony X in my opinion. Don't expect boring viking/epic instrumental inserts or Rhapsody like vain classic exploits. Just imagine bit more complex Thy Majestie of the earlier works (not the last twist, that I don't like much). Up & downs, of course, but a quite speed metal work.

Most regrettably yesterday I couldn't attend LORD's concert in Shinjuku, despite I was working right over there. So you have to get your fill with the previous stuff... and also without review, except for... a very nice place for pics and a kick-ass performance by everybody!

VENI VIDI VICI (Pt. 1): Orgasm Metal...!

Hei Dudes!
I've just come back from ORGASM METAL n 3, at Mozaic Live House, a pretty nice place down in Shimokitazawa. A pretty nice place for a pretty nice gig: cool hall, awesome sound, perfect lightning system... and very fine performance! A real photographic orgasm...! There are about 400 pics awaiting to be sorted out... and it is going to take a bit! Be patient! I'll be back... !

Good LORD!

At last, something for my schedule... I was really afraid I had to leave for the Mediterranean seas without any serious activity before the end of the year. And here we are with some OZ-metal for Cpt.'s teeth! November 23rd at Antiknock (Shinjuku, Tokyo), nothing less than LORD...!

Dudes, I can't tell you how happy I am!
You know, Cpt. was a totally dedicated fan of that kick-ass band that was DUNGEON. I got a good deal of versions of their albums and a few goodies. Most regrettably I never had a chance to get them live before they split up (exactly the same for Running Wild... those bastards)! So, I really think I am going to catch up and have a great time with them. And by the way, get their new album: it's really nasty!!!

By the way, if you come around one more piece of this 'tool'... well, I'll appreciate if you could set it adrift this way...! It is a strange edition...
