Captain on Metal
Everybody wants a dime of glory!
And here you have Cpt.'s one with ANVIL! Yes, OK... very thiny. But captured for metal posterity during their live gig at LOUDPARK (Japan) and included in ANVIL. A Story of Anvil DVD! Together with a bunch of other better appearing and unconscious fans!
By the way, the movie is amazingly cool! Not a story about metal, but about people and dreams!
Ooops... I shouldn't be saying this: DVD isn't out yet! Just booked, though.

HEAVY METAL CONFERENCE 09 #2
Here I am!
Some days have passed by now, but I still can't believe I cought Italians ARTHEMIS live performance right here here in Tokyo, at CRESCENDO live house, Sunday 31th May!
Actually, I came to know they played at Meguro last week, but before checking out details, I would have never suspected they were touring live-house across Japan! And luckily I managed to get my ass just to their last date!
They delivered a great performance: kicking everybody's ass and inundating a crowded house with pure Italian metal. Never seen so many people in there... so many I couldn't even move to take pics! Records are unfair: you have to experience them live. It's is just like for Maiden: live is better! Alessio's screaming, Paolo fire drumming, Matteo bass pounding and Andrea's axe-grinding... When party was over, Cpt. had some drinking & chatting with them (pic too, of course), with much support by various fans & girls who indulged longer around.

Before them on stage we had: ELENDIRA /GUILTYS LAW /RED HOUSE / GALACTICA PHANTOM . I'll be honest: when I went there I couldn't care less of anybody different from Arthemis! But as usually happens at Crescendo, whatever you pic in these gig, you get good tunes for your night. And so it was this time too. One in particular got me really insane... Red House. Oh, boys... Check out their site and their samples, 'cause their music is really stuff for bangers! And the performance too: 100% energy, groovy tunes and hell-of-a-singing. So bad they do so few gigs!

NUGGETS
Putting in order the vault makes the Cpt.rediscover bricks piled up in a hurry in the past and gone forgotten... Or simply provide enjoyment for things of the past. So here you have some nuggets from my personal collection.
Iron Maiden is THE BEST metal bands existing with, Dickinson or with Dianno (Cpt. don't accept compromises on that - you know). As you know (or you should), one of their best performances of the past, Maiden Japan, was originally available in EP form, with only 5 tracks from the show held at "Sun Plaza" (Tokyo) on the night of 24th May 1981. However, if you were lucky enough to be a member of the fan club, you could have got the whole show remastered in it's original form, as in 1999, the entire concert was remastered and released as a digipack to members of the Iron Maiden fanclub, with the following tracklist:

3. Sanctuary
4. Remember Tomorrow
5. Another Life
6. Genghis Khan
7. Killers
8. Innocent Exile
9. Twilight Zone
10. Strange World
11. Murders in the Rue Morgue

This is no official album: it's a soundboard (those things you get from professionals of the field by exchange) of a kind of gig by shred-god Joe Stump at Berklee Performance Center (Berklee School), Boston on August 2003. Despite the quality is not exactly what you may expect from a usual soundboard record, you can still pretty much get..."shredded into submission" (to say it with Joe) and have the real feeling on one of his virtuostivc performances. It has no cover, no set list, nothing, as it didn't come into a printed CD form.

Well, Cpt. has never been a serious Mr. Big fan, and you will never catch him banging on him. But in old good days, I went through this tunes more than ocasionaly (despite I never got one of their albums). And since next month they will be playing around here - where they are considered god - and J13 is waving his magic wand to have me getting backstage access, you will understand it is a good chance for brushing up! Besides, they are good musicians... and shredders too!

Tomorrow at Crescendo's cave some cover band activity (Dio, Exodus, Angra, ...) and the day after tomorrow - from Italy - ARTHEMIS! Actually it is a while since I haven't been following them, but I can recall their last work and I liked it quite a bit!
